Eames House bird - black

Charles and Ray Eames acquired a vast collection of art, textiles and books over years of travel to all corners of the globe. One of the most recognisable of their household items is the House Bird. Although now named the Eames House Bird, the sculpture was in fact carved by a husband and wife team from Illinois, Charles and Edna Perdew. The sculpture’s minimal shape and dark colour complemented the mid century design aesthetic and soon began to make an appearance in many of the Eames’ product photo-shoots. Vitra now reproduces the iconic House Bird, using 3D scans of the original. We have both the black and walnut versions in store now.
